NASA Space Apps Challenge 2025, an annual global hackathon organized by the National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA), has officially concluded after an exciting two-day competition (October 4–5, 2025) in Vietnam.
This year, Vietnam was among the Asia–Pacific countries to host the event at three locations — Ho Chi Minh City, Hanoi, and Da Nang — under the patronage of the Vietnam Aerospace Association (VASA) and organized by VSIG.
The 2025 theme, “LEARN. LAUNCH. LEAD.”, highlights the journey from learner to leader — where individuals are encouraged to learn, create, and inspire innovation. Participants could choose from 18 global challenges, covering diverse topics such as climate, biology, artificial intelligence, Earth data, and space technology.
Vegastar as part of the Judging panel in Ho Chi Minh City
In Ho Chi Minh City, Vegastar Technology Group was honored to have its representative join the Local Pitching Judging Panel of this year’s competition.
MSc. Huong Nguyen, a Remote Sensing and GIS Technology Expert at Vegastar Technology Group, served as a judge alongside leading scientists: Assoc. Prof. Dr. Pham Ngoc Lang, President of the Vietnam Aerospace Association (VASA), and Dr. Lam Dao Nguyen, a Space Applications Scientist and Executive Committee Member of GEOGLAM.
Competing teams demonstrated exceptional technological capabilities and multidisciplinary thinking, presenting ideas that spanned climate data analysis, artificial intelligence, creative storytelling, and sustainable solutions for Earth. After two days of intensive teamwork, the top 11 finalist teams advanced to the final pitching round, where they presented their projects to the judging panel.
The judges evaluated and provided feedback on each project following 48 hours of innovation and coding. Scoring criteria focused on creativity, data application, social impact, and feasibility of the proposed solutions.
By accompanying the NASA Space Apps Challenge 2025, Vegastar Technology Group once again reaffirmed its pioneering role in driving innovation and global collaboration in space and geospatial technology.
Recognized as the world’s largest hackathon in the field of space science and technology, the NASA Space Apps Challenge attracts hundreds of thousands of participants each year.
The competition encourages developers, scientists, engineers, designers, and students to leverage NASA’s open data in developing practical solutions for both Earth and space exploration.
